Life lessons while Mom preps some onions for soup. I always love filming her knife skills, but this time it turned into an opportunity to capture some of her wisdom. I pray I always cherish every moment we have together, inshAllah.
My faith in duaa has become much stronger recently. I’ve seen situations I felt ultimately helpless in changing, leaving me only to make duaa. Then against all odds, things suddenly improve. I’ve had things in my life that were going so “well” abruptly shift or be taken away from me, leaving me feeling hurt or deprived. But I’m quicker to accept, quicker to reflect, asking myself “was this an answer to one of my duaa?”
Overwhelmed with the love and sweet words people have had to share about this photo. A local Mecca photographer caught this moment between me and my brother during our recent trip for Umrah. On our last day in Mecca, before heading to Medina, we visited the Kaaba in the early afternoon when it was very sunny and warm. I sat behind my brother for shade for a few minutes and the photographer captured this shot from afar. I didn’t know it at the moment, but realized it was us when the photo started circulating online.
Ramadan Mubarak from the city of light, love and peace ✨
Still thinking about olive harvest season in the motherland and reminiscing on this interview with @pineapplecollaborative for their “The Pantry” series. My love for all things olives still runs deep.
Happy Birthday to the grape leaf Queen 💚 She’s the light of my life and a warmth to my heart no one else can provide. Here she is going out into the pouring rain to pick a few more grape leaves off her humble vine. So full of joy and surrounded with what she loves most-food, family and nature’s abundance. May you always be encompassed in His endless blessings, Habiba! I love you more than I can ever put in words.
It’s olive season in Palestine and this time of year always takes me back to the first time I took part in the olive harvest. Forever grateful to the @palmuseum for putting on this event. Yes, it was full of kids, but I’m never too proud to be a student. And yes, this was filmed on an old iPhone 7 in 2018, but if you know Palestine, you know she’s timeless and glows no matter how you capture her. It’s a memory I hold close to my heart and wish for every Palestinian to experience.
Another year in the books, Alhamdulilah. Another year to look forward to, inshAllah.
Just living my best falahi life 🌾
